Who is dickon omara biological father
It is thought O'Mara could have been dead for nearly three weeks, as the last text his mother, who was not at today's hearing, received from him was on December 8, the inquest heard.
Pc Phil Hewish, who investigated the death, told the hearing the neighbour contacted the police due to an "unpleasant odour" coming from the garage. The officer told the court the former theatre technician had been troubled since he sustained a brain injury when he was hit by a car in The crash affected his balance and left O'Mara, who had worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company in his 20s, unable to work, the inquest heard.
However, O'Mara had also tried to take his own life on two previous occasions before the crash, Pc Hewish told the inquest. The hearing heard he had "issues" with drinking, which caused problems between him and his mother while he was living with her. However, no alcohol or drugs were found in his system after his death, the hearing was told.
The inquest was told his mother, who is best known for her role as scheming Caress Morell in Dynasty, was diagnosed with pneumonia in September last year and that he struggled to come to terms with the illness. When his behaviour became too much for her to cope with, his mother rented him a room in Stratford, where she hoped he would get employment again with the RSC, the inquest was told. In a strange way that made it very difficult for me to intrude.
Over the years that followed, Cullen had intermittent contact with Dickon, who accompanied his mother as she toured around Britain and, during the Dynasty years, to America. As a teenager, Dickon visited on several occasions. But we would get to a point where we were having a relationship — and then he would back off and disappear. Kate was supported by her parents in the years after Dickon, pictured was born.
He was very affectionate. Away from the cameras, though, it was a lonely and unsettling. In , she married actor Richard Willis, 18 years her junior.
That marriage ended four years later. He had begun smoking cannabis and drinking heavily. Having been educated privately at Halliford School near Shepperton, Surrey, Dickon decided upon a career in the theatre, becoming a stage manager, rigger and carpenter at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
While there, year-old Dickon met actress Jenny Agutter, who was ten years his senior, and the pair shared her London flat before splitting a couple of years later. Towards the end of that relationship, Dickon tried to take his life for the first time — an ominous foreshadowing of what would occur nearly three decades later and a sign that was already a tortured soul.
Today, Cullen admits he wishes he had tried harder with his son. And he was very clever. He was a wonderful carpenter. He was fighting his own demons. Ultimately, though, the woman resigned — saying Dickon was impossible to control. He spent five months in specialist brain and spinal units, after which he stayed with Cullen for a while.
They were precious times for the father and son, and Cullen arranged for Dickon to help backstage on a production he was working on.
As soon as the production ended, however, Dickon took off again. He was very torn. That was the last email I got from him. Dickon blocked his emails. It was in October that police were called to her home after a furious row between mother and son. After the end of O'Mara's first marriage, in she began a nine-year relationship with journalist Steve Howard. By the time of his suicide, she had been admitted to hospital with cancer.
Dickon sent a final flurry of texts in the first week in December. O'Mara's funeral was last week. Ian Cullen was among the 35 or so mourners who attended the quiet service in Worthing, West Sussex. Her second husband, actor Richard Willis, was 18 years her junior.
A more recent partner, actor Mark Noble, was 20 years younger. She lived mostly in boarding schools growing up due to her parents' long absences. Her younger sister, Belinda Carroll, is also an actress.
Married and divorced twice, her son Dickon came from an actor she had repeatedly refused to name during their respective lifetimes. She was one of several big name guest stars brought to Doctor Who in the s by producer John Nathan-Turner. She then made her final appearance in the series when she was chosen as the principal villain in the Children in Need spoof Doctor Who: Dimensions in Time , which was made to mark the programme's 30th anniversary.
Lived alone in a 17th-century cottage in the Blackdown Hills in Somerset, England with her cat Perdita. She was seriously considered for a major role Sable or Frankie on The Colbys before being offered the role of Cassandra "Caress" Morell on Dynasty
