Why todays music is crap

Before this rant begins, I want to mention that I am delighted by some modern music because it is catchy and entertaining. What happened to the real talent? Also, a lot of modern music just seems to sound the same. This is probably because singers find a way to appeal to people and they stick with it. There is no substance or emotion in a huge amount of songs; they are empty of meaning and repetitive.

A lot of lyrics and videos are inappropriate as well. The lyrics and videos of music should inspire and move people, not brainwash them to think or be a certain way or even idolize them. Singers today mainly focus on their social media image rather than their true personality which is shown in older music. If not, I feel sorry for you. There are countless people and bands I can name, please do yourself a favor and listen to one of them.

After listening to these songs, you might recognize them. We all know popular singers and bands like Queen , Micheal Jackson , Backstreet Boys and Whitney Houston , but there is an array of other singers and bands as well. I can go on and on and on about why modern music is genuinely horrible.

The short answer is why everything that used to have a modicum of quality now in the toilet: a monopoly on the music industry. Billionaires have shit taste in music. Like Liked by 1 person. Hopefully the record labels and even the artists themselves can create their own mechanism for delivering their music to listener and bypass Apple, Spotify, etc so they can keep more money for themselves and invest it in finding real artistic talent.

I sure hope so. Avant garde bands of the 80s like Pixies, Kraftwerk and Violent Femmes just a few bands off the top of my head would not have the same audience today as they did then. Our instagram culture has limited our attention and imaginations. Just and old guy rant for what its worth. Like Like. The only thing changing is the worsening quality of the world we live in. Cultural decline is ugly and there is no cure. Our 21 st century is fraught with mayhem and decline from mass shootings to environmental collapse to pandemics to bad music.

We as a civilization or barbarism are in steady decline and the final outcome is extinction. Yes, you are right. Modern music lacks quality because nowadays musicians just want to become famous overnight. They do not have formal training in music. You are right. I am people. And, I would love to see change. Listen to any of it on an audio system worth anything and you just cringe. The timbre has fallen cause everything is produced on a computer.

A real instrument like a Fender goes out of business cause you can get the same guitar sounds from a computer. Why bother playing a real instrument? Now that record stores are gone, at some point small instrument retailers will go too. When I touch it, it gives forth a sound. Music is terrible nowadays. I miss the days when most artists could play an instrument, write and compose their own songs and sing it. As a Zahm House resident, we have a biweekly tradition of getting together to appreciate the female pop genre by singing and dancing along to artists like Ariana Grande, Shakira and even Taylor Swift.

However, these songs should be enjoyed with the realization that they are lacking in substance.
